HOUSING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Early day motion 129, tabled 26 November 2003 by Simon Hughes (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 37 members.
That this House welcomes the YMCA's There's No Place Like Home campaign; recognises that 25 per cent. of rough sleepers are aged 18 to 25, that two-thirds of young homeless people left school with no qualifications and that at any one time 240,000 young people are homeless in the United Kingdom; recognises that the problem is most acute in London; urges Her Majesty's Government to recognise that there is an inadequate supply of safe, affordable accommodation in many parts of the United Kingdom for young people; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to support positive initiatives that improve the level of information about where to turn in order to avoid homelessness.
