BARRIERS TO POST OFFICE CARD ACCOUNT USE

Early day motion 628A1, tabled 24 February 2004 by Michael Weir (Scottish National Party). Signed by 9 members.

Line 10, after 'Office', insert 'notes that even when elderly constituents insist on a Post Office Card Account the system is unduly difficult and bureaucratic involving them receiving a letter from the Pension Service which they are instructed to take to a Post Office with the original letter and then wait until a card is returned to the Post Office and then obtain information from that to complete another letter to be returned to the Pension Service; believes that such a system discourages many elderly people from insisting on a post office account;'.
