CHILDREN TRUST FUNDS AND POST OFFICE

Early day motion 648, tabled 23 February 2004 by Michael Connarty (Labour). Signed by 72 members.

That this House welcomes the Government's proposal for children's trust funds; notes the facility for family and friends to make additional payments to such funds and sees great merit in a suitable fund mechanism being established by the Post Office in partnership with the main banks which would allow top-up payments to be made at any of the Post Office and sub-post office outlets; and calls on the Treasury to pursue such a trust mechanism as a priority to allow the widest and most convenient access to the Children's Trust initiative.
