TITLE OF CHAIRMAN

Early day motion 455, tabled 20 January 2004 by Andrew Rosindell (Conservative). Signed by 20 members.

That this House acknowledges that the letters 'man' in the title of 'Chairman' refers to the human race and not solely the male gender; and therefore congratulates the London Borough of Havering in abolishing the politically correct term of 'Chair' to describe councillors who are appointed to chair committees and revert back to the correct title of 'Chairman'.

Signatures by party: Conservative 19, UUP 1.
