CUBAN SCIENCE

Early day motion 837, tabled 16 March 2004 by Ian Gibson (Labour). Signed by 52 members.

That this House decries the absurd attack by the US in banning the publication of articles by Cuban authors in US scientific journals; notes that Cuba has been under a trade embargo since 1960 and yet Cuban science in its application in medicine and agriculture is acknowledged to be world class; and believes that this was clearly demonstrated at a recent conference in Parliament hosted by the All Party Group on Cuba and at the Wellcome Trust.

Signatures by party: Labour 34, Liberal Democrat 8, Labour/Co-operative 5, Plaid Cymru 3, Conservative 1, Scottish National Party 1.
