TRANSPORT ENERGY CLEANUP PROGRAMME

Early day motion 699, tabled 26 February 2004 by David Kidney (Labour). Signed by 46 members.

That this House welcomes the major contribution to air quality in towns achieved by the Department for Transport and Energy Savings Trust's Energy Clean-up programme and its funding for fitting, in advance of legislative standards, transport pollution control technology to buses, vans and lorries; regrets the early end to the programme in 2003-04 and the damage this will cause both to air quality and to manufacturers of transport pollution control technology; and calls on the Department for Transport to commit funding for the programme in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 to meet market demand for transport pollution control technologies.

Signatures by party: Labour 26, Liberal Democrat 12, Conservative 3, Labour/Co-operative 3, DUP 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
