EU REFERENDUM

Early day motion 1028, tabled 21 April 2004 by Baroness Hoey (Labour). Signed by 41 members.

That this House welcomes the Government's decision to hold a referendum on the proposed EU constitution; believes that due to the wide ranging changes that the constitution could introduce it was imperative that the people of this country had a chance to vote on it; hopes that the referendum campaign will not be distorted into a question of the UK's continued membership of the EU; and looks forward to an open and honest debate.

Signatures by party: Labour 25, Conservative 5, DUP 3, Liberal Democrat 3, UUP 3, Labour/Co-operative 2.
