SMOKING BAN IN WALES

Early day motion 1009, tabled 20 April 2004 by Paul Flynn (Labour). Signed by 20 members.

That this House notes the great success of the ban on smoking in public places in Ireland; regrets that the decision by a majority in all parties in the Welsh Assembly last year to introduce a similar ban could not be enacted because the Assembly lacks the legislative powers; and looks forward to the adoption of the recommendations of the Richard Commission which will allow Wales to introduce this ban and other progressive legislation.

Signatures by party: Labour 12, Liberal Democrat 4, DUP 2, Plaid Cymru 2.
