EU DIRECTIVE ON MARINE DIESEL TAXATION

Early day motion 993, tabled 19 April 2004 by Bob Spink (Conservative). Signed by 15 members.

That this House deplores the interference of the EU in the taxation of energy products and marine diesel in particular; and calls on the Government to find a way to prevent the anticipated trebling of the price of marine diesel which could occur over the next three years as a result of the EU Directive to restructure the taxation of diesel and the expiry of the United Kingdom's derogation at the end of 2006.
