NEW EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS BODY
Early day motion 1306, tabled 27 May 2004 by Keith Vaz (Labour). Signed by 14 members.
That this House welcomes the Government's commitment to equality; congratulates it on the progress that has hitherto been made; is concerned however with the new proposal for a single equality and human rights body and the abolition of the Commission of Racial Equality; considers it important that the race agenda should be preserved; and therefore calls on the Government to enter into a dialogue with the different communities to discuss their views on the best way forward.
