CLOSURE OF THE TPL PRINTING WORKS, HARTLEBURY

Early day motion 1233, tabled 19 May 2004 by Tony Lloyd (Labour). Signed by 23 members.

That this House is concerned that TPL of Hartlebury is closing its printing works without any meaningful consultation with the workforce; is disappointed that the company refuses to consider a management buy-out that would have saved jobs; urges the parent company, Times Publishing Ltd of Singapore, now to help to manage the closure in as decent a way as possible; and hopes that the workers, most of whom are members of the GPMU, will be given redundancy that is fitting for the service that they have given the company.

Signatures by party: Labour 20, Liberal Democrat 3.
