YOUNG PEOPLE'S AFFAIRS SELECT COMMITTEE

Early day motion 1685, tabled 16 September 2004 by Andy Burnham (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 38 members.

That this House notes with concern the growing disconnection between young people and the political process, locally and nationally; believes this trend is due in part to the under-representation of the views and voices of the 18 to 30 age group in the political arena and public debate, as highlighted by the iGeneration initiative in the Times; and calls on the parliamentary authorities to find ways in which young people's views can be better represented in parliamentary proceedings; and calls for the establishment of a Young People's Affairs Select Committee.

Signatures by party: Labour 28, DUP 3, Labour/Co-operative 3, Liberal Democrat 3, Plaid Cymru 1.
