ILLEGAL ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS
Early day motion 203, tabled 26 November 2002 by John Austin (Labour). Signed by 80 members.
That this House condemns the continued expansion of Israeli settlements in the Occupied Territories; notes that since February 2001 there have been 44 new settler outposts; further notes that these are in direct contradiction to any notion of a two-state solution and are also in direct violation of the 4th Geneva Convention and UN Security Council resolutions; recalls that the Mitchell Commission of January 2001 called for a freeze on all settlement activity; further notes that settlement products are entering the European Union at preferential trade rates, in violation of the EU-Israel Trade Association agreement; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to raise these issues within the UN and EU.
