COMMEMORATION OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SINKING OF THE PRINCESS VICTORIA

Early day motion 159, tabled 20 November 2002 by Iris Robinson (DUP). Signed by 25 members.

That this House supports the commemoration of the forthcoming 50th Anniversary of the sinking of the Princess Victoria, which was one of the first generation of roll-on-roll-off ferries brought into service between Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Continent of Europe after World War II; remembers with deep respect the 133 passengers and crew lost off the coast of the Copeland Islands on the early afternoon of 31st January 1953; and encourages local government in Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Office to mark this tragic maritime disaster with the respect and honour it so deserves.
