FRICTION DYNAMEX CAERNARFON

Early day motion 112, tabled 18 November 2002 by Hywel Williams (Plaid Cymru). Signed by 32 members.

That this House congratulates the workers at Friction Dynamex Caernarfon on their tribunal victory which vindicates their year and a half long struggle for justice; applauds their conduct of the dispute which they carried out with courage, dignity, restraint and determination; gives thanks to the community of Caernarfon, the people of Wales and to trade unionists and others throughout the UK and beyond for their steadfast support of the strikers; is dismayed, however that the employer was enabled to sack workers engaged in a legal dispute after eight weeks and that the dispute was not resolved for 18 months; and calls for the abolition of the the eight week rule.

Signatures by party: Labour 19, Scottish National Party 5, Plaid Cymru 4, Liberal Democrat 3, Labour/Co-operative 1.
