REFORMING THE 20 DAY RULE
Early day motion 90, tabled 13 November 2002 by John Hayes (Conservative). Signed by 60 members.
That this House shares the concern of the UK livestock industry about the continuation of the 20 day rule and notes its more flexible application in Scotland; and calls upon the Government to examine the exemption process with a view to a more flexible and less bureaucratic regime which provides greater support for English and Welsh farmers who otherwise will be obliged either to break the law or face commercial ruin.
Signatures by party: Conservative 46, Liberal Democrat 7, Plaid Cymru 4, Labour 2, Independent Conservative 1.
