BIRDS EYE ADVERTISEMENT AND THE SCOTTISH FISHING INDUSTRY
Early day motion 424, tabled 18 December 2002 by Alex Salmond (Scottish National Party). Signed by 9 members.
That this House deplores the advert placed in the Scottish Sun on 18th December by Birds Eye, a subsidiary of Unilever, which seeks to make a fast buck on the back of the European Commission's proposals to close Scottish fishing waters; believes that if Birds Eye wanted to say something constructive to help resolve the fishing crisis, then they would advertise the strong and effective conservation measures that have already been implemented by the Scottish fishing fleet, alone in the European Union.
