TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
Early day motion 692, tabled 6 February 2003 by Brian H Donohoe (Labour). Signed by 134 members.
That this House notes EDM 275 (British Midland Atlantic Flights) which draws attention to the lack of competition on Atlantic routes from London Heathrow; calls upon the Government to recognise that such competition can be increased immediately by granting Singapore Airlines Fifth Freedom rights from London Heathrow to New York, and further to recognise that the giving of this approval does not affect bmi's position or UK/US negotiations, as the US Government has already granted Singapore Airlines transatlantic rights, and therefore urges the Government to follow suit.
