WOOD GREEN CYPRIOT CENTRE

Early day motion 639, tabled 3 February 2003 by Andrew Love (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 28 members.

That this House regrets the damage done by the fire at the Wood Green Cypriot Centre jointly run by Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities; notes that the centre is used by many of the Cypriot groups in North London, especially by visiting politicians from Cyprus who want to address a mixed Greek and Turkish Cypriot audience and for fundraising events which have kept the hope of Cyprus re-unification alive; and hopes that the damage can be repaired, and at this vital decision time for Cyprus, premises can be found to ensure that the work of the centre in bringing together Cypriots from London and other parts of the world can continue as a symbol that a reunited Cyprus can and will work.

Signatures by party: Labour 22, Conservative 2, Labour/Co-operative 2, Liberal Democrat 2.
