"ISRAEL, POVERTY AND THE PALESTINIANS" REPORT

Early day motion 636, tabled 31 January 2003 by Mark Lazarowicz (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 65 members.

That this House commends Christian Aid on the publication of its report, 'Israel, Poverty and the Palestinians'; expresses its deep concern at the report's conclusion that the current impoverishment suffered by so many Palestinians, if it continues unchecked, will fundamentally undermine the future of Palestinian society; accordingly urges the international community to respond positively to the calls for action made in the report; and endorses in particular its calls for the international community to ensure Israeli compliance with the Fourth Geneva Convention, and for the European Union to enforce all provisions within bilateral treaties with Israel, such as the association agreement.

Signatures by party: Labour 47, Liberal Democrat 10, Labour/Co-operative 5, Plaid Cymru 2, Conservative 1.
