60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NORMANDY LANDINGS

Early day motion 618, tabled 30 January 2003 by Lindsay Hoyle (Labour). Signed by 165 members.

That this House notes that 6th June 2004 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Normandy landings during the Second World War involving 150,000 service personnel; recognises the huge sacrifice made by soldiers at this time and throughout the whole war; accepts the significance of the D-Day landings as the beginning of allied forces liberating Europe; and calls on the Government to begin preparations now in order that this extremely important and historic event is commemorated appropriately on its 60th anniversary next year.
