C.S.F.B. POLL ON THE EURO

Early day motion 616, tabled 29 January 2003 by Ian Davidson (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 28 members.

That this House notes the poll conducted for CSFB which shows that of those asked 'Do you think it would be a good idea for the UK to join the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and adopt the European single currency (the Euro) in the next two to three years?' only 32 per cent. said yes, while 56 per cent. said no; congratulates the Independent newspaper on drawing this to the attention of a wider audience; and believes that the political elite in Britain should pay more attention to the views of the people.

Signatures by party: Labour 21, Labour/Co-operative 3, Conservative 2, DUP 2.
