RELOCATION OF DEFRA OFFICIALS

Early day motion 1069, tabled 14 April 2003 by Gary Streeter (Conservative). Signed by 6 members.

That this House welcomes the recent announcement by the Chancellor in the Budget that civil servants will be relocated to various parts of the country; calls upon the Government to relocate the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from Whitehall to the West Country so that policy makers can be embedded in the issues and concerns of the rural communities most impacted by their decisions; and urges the Government to implement this important new policy while there is still a countryside left to save.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 4, Conservative 2.
