ENGLISH PARTNERSHIPS

Early day motion 1708, tabled 17 September 2003 by Hilton Dawson (Labour). Signed by 5 members.

That this House deplores the recent decision of English Partnerships to focus resources on house renewal pathfinder areas and other strategic projects; expresses alarm and great concern at the devastating impact that this is likely to have on smaller regeneration projects; deplores the fact that years of work by Lancaster City Council, North West Regional Development Agency and English Partnerships' own regional office to redevelop Luneside East has been undermined by this decision; and calls upon the Deputy Prime Minister to review the prospects for the Government's ability to meet it commitments to end poverty and meet the needs of all the 20 per cent. poorest wards if this foolish, short-sighted and retrograde approach is allowed to go ahead.

Signatures by party: Labour 4, Liberal Democrat 1.
