BRITISH GLIDING

Early day motion 144, tabled 12 July 2001 by Lembit Öpik (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 2 members.

That this House notes the tremendous achievement of Mr Steve Jones who won the World 18 Metre Gliding Championships in Spain on 30th June, applauds him for scoring another world class victory for British gliding; and calls on the Minister for Culture, Media and Sport to enter discussions with the British Gliding Association to hear the case for funding British gliding on a formal basis, in order to enable this relatively low cost high profile British sporting success story to continue.
