TURNOUT AT THE GENERAL ELECTION
Early day motion 126, tabled 12 July 2001 by Lord Field of Birkenhead (Labour). Signed by 42 members.
That this House is concerned with the turnout at the General Election, the lowest for over 80 years; believes that parties from across the political spectrum should act to try and reverse the trend; and calls upon the Chancellor of the Exchequer to allow both the successful candidate and the unsuccessful candidates following a General Election a copy of the marked register at nil cost.
Signatures by party: Labour 25, Labour/Co-operative 6, Liberal Democrat 6, Conservative 2, Plaid Cymru 2, Scottish National Party 1.
