FEES PAID TO ADMINISTRATORS OF FEDERAL MOGUL/TURNER AND NEWHALL

Early day motion 1884, tabled 6 November 2003 by Michael Clapham (Labour). Signed by 65 members.

That this House is concerned to learn that $75 million was paid last year to the professional team administering Federal Mogul, the owners of Turner and Newhall; is further concerned that in addition ú465 per hour was paid to the United Kingdom administrator, whose solicitors have taken ú24 million whilst not one penny piece has been paid to the United Kingdom asbestos victims or their families; believes that these outrageous fees stand in stark contrast to the claimant's legal representatives who are willingly giving their time free of charge; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to bring pressure to bear to end this scandalous situation before the funds available to United Kingdom asbestos victims completely haemorrhage away.
