MODERN ROLE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES

Early day motion 1861, tabled 4 November 2003 by Mike Wood (Labour). Signed by 67 members.

That this House recognises the need for the law to reflect the modern nature and varied role of our emergency and public service drivers; and urges the Government to update the necessary legislation to prevent a repeat of the case of Mr Mike Ferguson, where an NHS ambulance driver with 36 years' unblemished service was charged with speeding while transporting a liver from donor to patient.
