PREMIER LEAGUE AND THE PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLERS ASSOCIATION
Early day motion 322, tabled 29 October 2001 by Lindsay Hoyle (Labour). Signed by 27 members.
That this House notes with concern the current dispute between the Professional Footballers Association and the Premier League over the share of television revenue; understands and shares the concerns of the PFA given that they would see a major reduction in revenue leading to a major shortfall on the current expenditure of ú12 million each year which is directed at worthy causes such as footballer welfare schemes, funding junior football and anti-racism; and calls on the Minister of Sport to mediate to prevent a loss of football matches through strike action.
