MINERS COMPENSATION CLAIMS

Early day motion 163, tabled 17 July 2001 by John Cummings (Labour). Signed by 51 members.

That this House notes the continuing anxiety, anger and frustration at the continuing delays in settling claims for chronic bronchitis and emphysema; and calls for the convening of a meeting between all interested parties, the Department for Trade and Industry, Solicitors' Group, National Union of Mineworkers, IRISC and Health Call so that the problems can be identified and a common solution agreed, as it would appear that each party is blaming another for the delays.

Signatures by party: Labour 42, Liberal Democrat 4, Labour/Co-operative 2, Plaid Cymru 2, Scottish National Party 1.
