WAVERLEY LINE EDINBURGH TO CARLISLE

Early day motion 653, tabled 15 January 2002 by David Hamilton (Labour). Signed by 27 members.

That this House urges both the United Kingdom and Scottish Parliaments to ensure the Waverley Line becomes a priority, which will open up both Midlothian and the Scottish Borders; and notes that it is imperative that the rail and road infrastructure is put into operation, which will support semi-rural and rural areas in their drive to develop their economic and tourism strategies that are being promoted following the demise of the coal and textile industries in these constituencies.
