GREETING CARDS INDUSTRY

Early day motion 550, tabled 11 December 2001 by Mark Oaten (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 26 members.

That this House notes that 2.6 billion greeting cards are bought in the UK every year; further notes that the UK greeting card industry is the world leader in this market; expresses concern that proposals by Consignia to introduce additional postal charges for non-standard shaped cards would damage the industry; and calls on the Government to seek safeguards from Consignia to protect the card industry and card consumers before any such changes are implemented.
