LOCAL PRODUCE AND THE FUTURE OF THE FARMING COMMUNITY

Early day motion 545, tabled 11 December 2001 by Colin Breed (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 27 members.

That this House supports the Western Mornings News campaign to promote local produce; recognises the need to encourage and support the purchase of and trade in produce in the South West and generally throughout the United Kingdom; notes the social, economic, health and environmental benefits; and recognises that by doing so the campaign is supporting the farming community, ensuring a high quality of produce to the consumer and limiting the need to transport great distances.
