MILLENNIUM STADIUM

Early day motion 880, tabled 25 February 2002 by Lord Brennan of Canton (Labour). Signed by 6 members.

That this House notes the success of the Worthington Cup Final held under the sliding roof at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff; believes that the stadium is now widely accepted by football fans as the home of major finals like the Worthington Cup, Football League play-offs and the FA Cup; and further believes that with the overwhelming evidence from England football fans of their preference to watch their national team at club venues around the country, the English Football Association should abandon its expensive plans for a national stadium, and make the Millennium Stadium the permanent and neutral venue for its major finals.

Signatures by party: Labour 4, Labour/Co-operative 1, Liberal Democrat 1.
