OIL INDUSTRY EMPLOYMENT

Early day motion 764, tabled 30 January 2002 by John MacDougall (Labour). Signed by 41 members.

That this House welcomes the success of government policy in reducing unemployment but expresses concern about the loss of jobs in oil related work such as happened recently in the constituency of Central Fife at the oil rig construction yard in Methil; and calls upon the Government to do everything possible to encourage re-deployment and job opportunities in areas affected by the loss of employment in the oil industry.

Signatures by party: Labour 36, Labour/Co-operative 4, Liberal Democrat 1.
