MILITARY TENSION BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN

Early day motion 1162, tabled 19 April 2002 by Jeremy Corbyn (Labour). Signed by 34 members.

That this House notes that the governments of India and Pakistan remain on high military alert and have done so since mid-December, a period of drawn out tension unprecedented in peacetime; notes also that all links between the two countries for the purposes of travel and communication have remained severed throughout; and urges Her Majesty's Government to take all available measures, including a review of arms sales to the region, to assist these two countries in stepping back from the brink of military confrontation.
