SOCIAL CLASS AND PARTICIPATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION
Early day motion 1010, tabled 14 March 2002 by Barry Sheerman (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 101 members.
That this House welcomes the efforts made by universities to widen participation in higher education as demonstrated by Universities UK's report 'Social Class and participation in Higher Education: From Elitism to Inclusion 2'; and supports the university sector's views that it is vital to fund such work properly to ensure not only the recruitment but also, crucially, the retention of students from non-traditional backgrounds.
Signatures by party: Labour 69, Labour/Co-operative 10, Liberal Democrat 8, Conservative 7, Plaid Cymru 3, UUP 2, DUP 1, Scottish National Party 1.
