POST OFFICE CONSULTATION

Early day motion 1363, tabled 21 May 2002 by Lindsay Hoyle (Labour). Signed by 77 members.

That this House notes the proposals forwarded by the Postal Services Commission, Postcomm, for the liberalisation of the United Kingdom postal market by 2006; acknowledges the widespread opposition to the proposals from Consignia, Trade Unions, honourable Members and the general public; and calls on Postcomm to embark on a genuine consultation exercise with all parish, district, county, unitary and metropolitan authorities, regional assemblies and honourable Members so that the views of the public and their representatives can be heard and taken into account before any proposals are put in place.

Signatures by party: Labour 49, Liberal Democrat 16, Labour/Co-operative 7, Scottish National Party 2, UUP 2, Plaid Cymru 1.
