SUSAN MAY'S APPEAL JUDGEMENT

Early day motion 1283, tabled 13 May 2002 by John McDonnell (Labour). Signed by 6 members.

That this House welcomes to Parliament a delegation of campaigners seeking to secure the release of Susan May, a woman sentenced to life for a murder she did not commit; and expresses its deep concern that despite the reference of her case to the Court of Appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission, the Court of Appeal rejected her appeal, ignoring the overwhelming evidence of her innocence; and calls upon the Commission to refer her case back to the Appeal Court for reconsideration.

Signatures by party: Labour 5, Labour/Co-operative 1.
