PENSION LIABILITIES

That this House notes that the most recent official estimate of total liabilities across all unfunded public sector pension schemes was ú380bn on 31st March 2002; is concerned that a leading firm of actuaries, Watson Wyatt, recently estimated that the figure is now ú580bn; calls on the Government to produce a new official estimate of total liabilities; and urges the Government to publish details of its findings and calculations before the next General Election.
