ST GEORGE'S CROSS

Early day motion 1487, tabled 20 June 2002 by Pete Wishart (Scottish National Party). Signed by 3 members.

That this House welcomes the widespread use of the St. George's Cross during England's World Cup campaign, reflecting a strengthening of English national identity and weakening of Britishness; and calls for the St. George's Cross to be flown above the Palace of Westminster for the duration of the English campaign, however long that may be, in recognition of the team's achievements, and in preparation for the day when Westminster becomes the parliament of an independent England.

Signatures by party: Scottish National Party 3.
