FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME

Early day motion 199, tabled 25 November 2004 by Lord Willetts (Conservative). Signed by 91 members.

That this House welcomes the creation of the Financial Assistance Scheme; notes with concern that people who have already been affected by the wind-up of a pension scheme do not know whether they will be eligible for assistance, what level of assistance they will receive, or when assistance will commence; is very concerned that ú400 million will not provide the level of assistance that many might be expecting; calls on the Government to reveal details of the scheme at the first possible opportunity; and urges the Government to consider using unclaimed assets to boost the funds available for assistance.
