SALE OF THE COUNTY HALL

Early day motion 1453, tabled 17 June 2002 by Lord Stratford (Labour). Signed by 44 members.

That this House draws attention to the fact that there is still £10 million owned by the Shirayama Group from its original purchase price for the County Hall, London SE1; notes that under the giveaway price sanctioned by the then Conservative Government no interest is payable on the balance which does not need to be paid in full until 2012; believes Londoners were swindled by Shirayama and the Thatcher Government; and demands that Her Majesty's Government re-negotiates the deal.

Signatures by party: Labour 32, Liberal Democrat 11, Conservative 1.
