DRAMBUIE COMPETITION

Early day motion 1777, tabled 21 October 2002 by Alistair Carmichael (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 15 members.

That this House condemns the decision of Drambuie International Limited to restrict entry to its 'Drambuie on Ice' competition to residents of the United Kingdom mainland only, thus excluding residents in the country's island communities; notes that this is despite the reliance of Drambuie on its island roots as 'The Skye Liqueur' in its marketing literature; calls on Drambuie International to make a full apology to the United Kingdom's island communities and to offer them the opportunity of participating in this competition; and calls on the House of Commons Refreshment Department to remove Drambuie from sale within the House until this is done.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 5, Scottish National Party 4, Labour 3, Plaid Cymru 3.
