RACIST ABUSE IN SLOVAKIA

Early day motion 1745, tabled 15 October 2002 by Lord Stratford (Labour). Signed by 72 members.

That this House condemns without reservation the appalling racist abuse of Emile Heskey and Ashley Cole in the recent Euro 2004 qualifying match between Slovakia and England in Bratislava; notes that this was not an isolated incident and is concerned at other examples of racist abuse of black British footballers when playing in Europe; and calls upon UEFA to mount a vigorous and sustained anti-racist campaign throughout Europe starting with a ban on Slovakian fans from travelling to the return match with England in 2003.
