UNIVERSITY 'TOP-UP' FEES

Early day motion 282, tabled 1 February 2001 by Steve Pound (Labour). Signed by 59 members.

That this House recognises the serious issue of financial hardship affecting university students and the concern over rising levels of graduate debt; commends the University of London Union for its campaign in highlighting these issues on behalf of students in London; and calls on all parties to give higher education a prominent place in their manifestos, including a commitment ruling out the imposition of further 'top-up fees' on students.
