CHARGING FOR CRIMINAL RECORDS OF VOLUNTEERS

Early day motion 155, tabled 8 January 2001 by Lord Wigley (Plaid Cymru). Signed by 77 members.

That this House regrets that charges of ú10 per check are to be made on adults working in voluntary organisations with children; and, while recognising that such checks need to be made, calls on the Home Secretary to use his powers under Part V of the Police Act 1997 to waive charges for voluntary organisations which are required to make such checks.
