WALK AGAINST AGEISM

Early day motion 105, tabled 13 December 2000 by Lord Livsey of Talgarth (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 44 members.

That this House congratulates Roger Warren Evans, who walked from Swansea to London, a distance of 220 miles from his home, in 18 days and arrived on time at his workplace on his 65th birthday on 11th December 2000; praises this feat; and recognises that this walk against ageism proves that people in their fifties, sixties and beyond are more than capable of contributing to society and work and that they should not be discriminated against in any facet of their lives, whether in the United Kingdom, Europe or the rest of the world.

Signatures by party: Labour 31, Liberal Democrat 9, Labour/Co-operative 3, Conservative 1.
