COMMUNITY RAIL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
Early day motion 192, tabled 25 November 2004 by Baroness May of Maidenhead (Conservative). Signed by 11 members.
That this House condemns the Government's decision to continue the Community Rail plans for the Henley-Twyford and Maidenhead-Marlow branch lines, noting that these lines are key commuter routes; further notes that under the proposals safety standards will fall, and Government investment will be cut; deplores the increase in road congestion and engine emissions that would follow branch line deterioration; and calls on the Government to cancel the proposals for these lines forthwith.
