BEER PRICE INCREASES

Early day motion 451, tabled 14 March 2001 by Lord Bilston (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 83 members.

That this House condemns unreservedly the blatant profiteering by United Kingdom Breweries, who have announced beer price increases of up to 10 pence a pint in the same week that the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his Budget froze the duty on beer, a measure which clearly demonstrates a Labour Government's support and commitment to the British consumer.

Signatures by party: Labour 68, Labour/Co-operative 11, Liberal Democrat 2, Plaid Cymru 1, Unknown 1.
